Purchase of a photograph of Jacques-Émile Blanche

The collections of the Maison de Tante Léonie - Musée Marcel Proust have been enriched by the purchase, on Friday 2 February, at Drouot, of this photograph of Jacques-Emile Blanche dedicated in 1892 to Marcel Proust.

This acquisition was made using the pre-emption right granted to us by the Ministère de la Culture for the occasion. It benefited from the technical support of the teams of the Conseil départemental d'Eure-et-Loir and the financial support of the Fonds du Patrimoine. We warmly thank everyone who contributed to this success.

The photograph will be presented at the Maison de Tante Léonie on the occasion of its reopening on Saturday 18 May. It adds to a collection that already includes a photograph of Reynaldo Hahn dedicated to Marcel Proust, acquired by pre-emption at Sotheby's in 2020.

For reference, our "Proust et Blanche" collection also includes, among other pieces, a view of Dieppe painted by Proust's friend in 1904, a work to which we have devoted a brochure.
