Proustian Readings, Summer 2020, at Illiers

Every Sunday from 12 July to 23 August 2020, at 6pm, Isabelle Mentré, a professional actress, will offer, in a private garden, a performance that may serve as an ideal complement to a visit to the maison de Tante Léonie. It will be a reading of selected pages from Du côté de chez Swann (approximate duration: 50 minutes) concerning Combray: the discovery of the church of Combray and Swann's visits to the narrator's family.

Isabelle Mentré's agent specifies:

"To attend this event, it is recommended to have a means of transport, as the venue is located 2 kilometres from La maison de Tante Léonie. Indeed, we will take care not to welcome more than 10 people at a time, so as to comply with health guidelines, and likewise, should there be too few participants, we wish to inform those registered within a reasonable time of a possible cancellation.

As regards the arrangements for welcoming guests, each person will be offered a mask and hand sanitiser gel will be made available. As will refreshments...

In the event of bad weather, we will be able to move to the hunting lodge adjoining the garden.
