Rereading Proust in 2022
To mark the 2022 Journée des Aubépines, Antoine Compagnon, professor at the Collège de France and member of the Académie française, invites us, in this centenary year of the writer's death, to "reread" Proust.
"Every great work lacks poise: assured works go out of fashion, those that become classics are ambiguous," writes Antoine Compagnon in the introduction to one of his studies on À la Recherche du temps perdu. For this specialist, holder of the chair of modern and contemporary French literature at the Collège de France, the work of Marcel Proust is a universe whose exploration is never finished.
