Meeting with Dosithée Yeatman on 21 May

As part of the Rencontres des Amis de Marcel Proust, the Société des Amis de Marcel Proust is delighted to welcome Dosithée Yeatman for a lecture entitled:

« Madeleine et Léon Yeatman : une amitié proustienne »

Through the memories passed down by her family and the sensitive perspective she brings to this memory, Dosithée Yeatman will bring back to life the figure of her grandmother, Madeleine Yeatman, and that of her grandfather, Léon Yeatman, a close friend of Marcel Proust. Between intimate reminiscences and literary insights, this meeting will allow us to approach, as closely as possible, what a Proustian friendship was - it is known in particular that Madeleine and Léon accompanied Marcel Proust to Rouen in 1903, for a visit to the cathedral in search of the "little figure" drawn by John Ruskin (it was Madeleine who spotted it first!).

This lecture serves as a counterpoint to the exceptional presentation, at the musée d'Orsay, of the portrait of Madeleine as a child painted by Renoir, now held in a private American collection and shown as part of the exhibition devoted to the painter.
