A Habilitation à diriger des recherches in Literature
(practice and theory of literary creation)
Supervisor: Isabelle Serça, University Professor
General title of the work: "From the writer's manuscripts to the training in writing: a biography of Marcel Proust through his drafts and his loves, as theory and practice of research in literary creation"
Synthesis documents: "Coming to writing: from the desire to write to a practice of creative writing applied to research work in textual genetics"
This text offers a retrospective look at a research career leading from the study of Marcel Proust's drafts to a practice of literary criticism as field literature, blending genetic research, biographical writing and literary creation.
Unpublished work: "Un Amour de Proust: Alfred Agostinelli and À la recherche du temps perdu "
This work traces the biography of Alfred Agostinelli, Marcel Proust's chauffeur and secretary, and the principal model for the character of Albertine.
Returning to this controversial figure in Proust's biography, this text brings out a more intimate image of the man. Through archival research and analysis of the correspondence and drafts from 1913 and 1914, it sheds light on this young man's role alongside Proust and in the genesis of his work.
Transgressing the prohibition, set out in the drafts of Contre Sainte-Beuve, against conflating the man and the work, it assesses the contribution — to the understanding of the work and of the creative process — not only of the author's biography but of that of those close to him, however minor they may seem.
