Newsletter of 27 May

Ladies and Gentlemen, dear members,

The Proustian visit to Cabourg and its surroundings, which was announced a few weeks ago, will take place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September. It is now possible to register on our website.

The programme for this weekend was devised by Jean-Paul Henriet, former mayor of Cabourg and member of our association's Board of Directors. We will thus have the opportunity to see, besides the Grand Hôtel, the villas where Proust's friends lived, the church of Dives-sur-Mer, the shop of Proust's florist in Houlgate, the graves of the Mesdemoiselles d'Alton, Bayeux Cathedral, and the residence of a certain Monsieur Swann, located not far from Cambremer… These visits will be interspersed with readings.

I would also remind you, still on the subject of the Normandy coast, that the conference organised by Mireille Naturel and Eugène Nicole under the title "À l’ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs, prix Goncourt 1919" will conclude on 26 June in Dives-sur-Mer.

I would also remind those of you who live in or around Montpellier that you can benefit from the reduced rate for the show Un Instant, inspired by Proust, which will be performed at the amphithéâtre d'O on 2 and 3 June.

As for those of you fortunate enough to be going to Venice before 31 October, you will no doubt be pleased to note that an exhibition entitled "Venezia - Marcel Proust, Reynaldo Hahn et Mariano Fortuny" has just opened at the Palazzetto Bru Zane. It is curated by Jean-Yves Patte (already the curator of the Reynaldo Hahn exhibition held in Vichy last year), who recently gave an interview on the subject.

Finally, I would remind you that our annual general meeting will be held on Wednesday 5 June at 6pm at the Collège de France (room 4).

Yours sincerely,
Jérôme Bastianelli
