Obituary

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death, at the age of 93, of Jacques Dubois, professor emeritus at the Université de Liège and a member of our association (he had notably taken part in the anthology Proust 150). He was a major voice in Proustian studies and in literary sociology. His illuminating monograph Pour Albertine : Proust et le sens du social explores À la Recherche du temps perdu through the prism of the social, and Le Roman de Gilberte Swann extends this innovative reading.

We extend our most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones, and we shall pay him a fuller tribute in the next Bulletin Marcel Proust.

As usual, you will find further information in the previous letter (8 February), some of which is still relevant.

Yours faithfully,

Jérôme Bastianelli
