"Proust essayist", Antoine Compagnon's new course at the Collège de France, from January 8 to April 2, 2019

Every Tuesday at 4:30 pm, from January 8 to April 2, 2019, Antoine Compagnon will give a course at the Collège de France entitled "Proust essayiste":

"In search of lost time is a novel, that seems obvious, but Proust wondered in 1908, when he had his main idea: "Should it be turned into a novel, a philosophical study, am I a novelist?" And he doubted. Could the novel have taken the form of an essay? Are there any essays in Proust's novel? Did Proust write essays next to In search of lost time, before and after it? And by the way, what did novelist, essayist mean when Proust launched into his work?"

This course is followed by a seminar at 17:45. The complete program is available on the Collège de France website
